Sam Skerry

Sam Skerry is senior vice president, Mergers & Acquisitions and Business Development, a role which she has held since November 2022, with business development recently added to her accountabilities. Sam is accountable for overseeing the execution of all material acquisitions, divestments and joint ventures and leads the M&A team to play a critical role in enabling bp to shift from a hydrocarbon centric portfolio to a more balanced portfolio to compete in the energy transition. Sam also leads the Business Development team which originates and delivers all material commercial opportunities for bp, in delivering its strategy to transition from IOC to Integrated Energy Company. Sam has been with bp for over 25 years and has held senior commercial leadership roles in multiple regions and businesses. Prior to her current role she led the bp Launchpad and venturing organisation in originating, scaling and commercialising new businesses and technology-led options, with accountability for bp’s Corporate Venture Capital activity. Prior to this Sam spent most of her career in Supply & Trading, having led businesses across trading & shipping, including: bp’s trading activities across Oil and Chemicals for the region covering Europe, FSU and Africa; North America natural gas marketing and operations; and establishing a global derivatives marketing business. She had earlier experience in Treasury. Outside work Sam enjoys time with her husband and two young children, and with any spare time she likes to travel and spend time outdoors and on the beach in Suffolk or warmer climates.
